Bail Bonds for Possession Charges

Bondsman for Drug Possession

At Patel Bail Bonds, we understand the California arrest and jail system. If a family member or friend is facing possession charges, the Sheriff or Police Department does not discriminate. Even if they were in possession of someone elseÂ’s drugs, or they didnÂ’t know they were there, or it was a just a mistake, they will be arrested.

When you call, a licensed bondsman willl take the time to explain all of your options, while providing you with clear information on how to get moving forward in bailing your friend or loved one out. Once bailed out of jail, court dates are typically moved forward and the arrestee will have more time to get their home and family issues in order, while getting in touch with legal representation if desired.

For several years, weÂ’ve provided bail services throughout California for clients who have been arrested and charged for possession. Let our knowledgeable and professional bail agents help you today at Toll-free, 1-800-598-BAIL (2245) or call 1-888-598-5288.

If Someone Is Arrested on a Possession Charge

ItÂ’s important to be aware that drug possession charges can come with serious ramifications. In California, most drug charges are deemed as felonies. Depending upon the type and quantity of drug/s the arrestee is caught holding in their possession, they could be facing a mandatory prison sentence and a felony on their permanent record. Drug possession laws in California may vary according to the drugsÂ’ type, the amount found in possession, and the geographic location where the felony took place. If a person is caught in possession of small quantities of drugs, the law may deem this as “simple” possession. If someone is found in possession of large quantities of drugs, this may result in a charge for “presumed possession” with the intent to distribute to the public, which comes with a much harsher punishment. In the state of California, there is also a law which can add several years to the arresteeÂ’s original sentence if they have had any prior convictions. Also, if they were caught selling drugs to any children under the age of 21 and are in the possession firearm/s at the time of arrest, this can also add mandatory time.

Example of Drug Possession Charges

The Federal government classifies drugs by a schedule that ranges from I to V. At the most serious side of the bar are Schedule I drugs, (being the most dangerous types of drugs because of their effect to create addictions or dependencies in people). Examples of these drugs are: Marijuana, LSD, Cocaine, Methamphetamines, “Club Drugs”, Mescaline and Heroin. At the most non-serious or mild side of the bar is, Schedule V drugs, (being very low risk drugs because of their low dependency effect on people). Examples of these drugs are: Codeine or Tylenol and would likely fall under this schedule and may be specifically prescription drug fraud.

Booking and Processing

Once an arrestee has been booked and processed into the jailÂ’s computer system for possession charges, they may be eligible for release from jail on bail bond or they may be held until arraignment if bail is not posted. Arraignment will generally take place within two business days. For example, if someone is arrested on Thursday night, they would generally be arraigned the following Monday morning. Bail can typically be posted at most California jails, 24-hours a day.

Bail Process for the Indemnitor

Our company will quickly get you through the approval process in just a few minutes over the phone. You can handle all the paperwork conveniently by email, fax or we can make arrangements to meet with you directly at the jail. As the indemnitor, (bail bond signer) we will help you understand all of the details of your responsibilities before you decide to bail someone out of jail on possession charges. You will be required to sign minimal, state-required paperwork and make payment for the bond, which is a non-refundable fee. Bail bonds typically require payment prior to the arrestees release from jail. Within a few short minutes we will let you know if you qualify for financing.
