Credit Card Fraud Charges – California Penal Code 484i(c)

Credit card fraud (484i(c) PC) is a serious offense. It typically occurs when a person knowingly uses a stolen or lost credit card for personal purchases; or they have applied for credit via identity theft, or they have opened or created a false account with a credit card company or bank. Credit card fraud can also take place via the Internet or phone. Charges for credit card fraud can range from felony conviction, time in state prison, parole, steep fines, probation, and restitution to either the financial institution or individual.

Arrest, Release and Booking process

Upon arrest for credit card fraud, it can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours to simply interview, fingerprint, and ultimately book a defendant. A long period of time may pass before the jail computer system has any information of a person’s arrest. Many times, the smaller jails generally will not hold a detainee for very long. Instead, the individual may be transferred to a larger facility. When transfers do occur, the clock can start all over again. After the bail bond is finally posted, it may take the larger jail facility another 6 — 12 hours to complete release procedures. Smaller jails generally will release a defendant faster. However, once processing is complete, the detainee may be bailed out of jail. If it is possible, we always recommend bailing someone out while they are still being held in the smaller jail facility for a much faster release time.

We can quickly get you through the approval process over the phone in just a few minutes. Further, many clients live in different areas of California. This is not a problem for us. Patel Bail Bonds offers bail bonds by fax and email to get the detainee released as quickly as possible. If you prefer and you’re local, a bail agent can come to your location or meet you directly at the jail.

Posting Bail

When you contact us, we’ll ask a few questions in order to assess the amount of risk involved in the bail bond. We look for several factors such as the length of time residing in California, employment status, credit score, etc. These items will be considered for both the defendant and the indemnitor (person signing for the bail bond). Once complete, we’ll begin the approval process. Once the paperwork is finalized, a licensed bail agent will go directly to the jail to post the bail bond and the defendant will be released. Bail Bond Financing

If the bail amount is set at $100,000 for example, the bail bond fee in California would be 10%, or $10,000. Many states have laws that govern bail bond fees and costs. In California, licensed bail agents are forbidden to charge any more or any less than the legal amount. Most bail agencies require their fee up-front, prior to posting the bond. Our company is skilled in creative bail bond solutions. Please let us know your needs; we’ll work with you to arrange the most convenient payment arrangement available.
